Modern News Review

Editorial policy

Modern News Review aims to make the practices behind news easier to understand. Our explanations should be accurate, clearly framed and candid about what they can and cannot establish.

Accuracy and context

We check names, wording and descriptions against appropriate source material before publication. We distinguish direct evidence from inference, provide context needed to understand an example, and avoid claims that reach beyond the material available to support them.

Independence and partnerships

Editorial decisions are made for reader understanding, not to meet a partner's preferred conclusion. Any paid or partner material is clearly labelled as such and kept distinct from independent editorial work. A partnership does not guarantee favourable coverage.

Corrections

If a published detail is wrong or materially incomplete, we review the concern and correct the text when warranted. Readers can use the Contact page to identify the article and passage and explain the issue. We aim to make meaningful changes clear to readers.

Illustrations

Some illustrations may be generated with artificial intelligence. Illustrations are not evidence of a reported event, and we aim to identify generated imagery where its nature could otherwise mislead.
